A filter should match the system's specified dimensions and fit correctly in the filter slot or cabinet. Do not force an incompatible filter.
Restriction matters
A heavily loaded or inappropriate filter can reduce airflow. Higher filtration is not automatically better if the system is not designed for the added resistance.
Use condition and guidance
Replacement timing varies with filter type, system use, indoor conditions, and manufacturer guidance. Inspect rather than relying on a universal calendar.
